Masters of Engraving
(Mestres da Gravura)


Brasília hosts since January 26th the exhibition Mestres da Gravura (Masters of Engraving) that reunites works of some of the greatest artists of all time. Mestres da Gravura (Masters of Engraving) features works by Rembrandt, Dürer, Goya, Piranesi, among others.

The works are part of the archive of Fundação Biblioteca Nacional (National Library Foundation) and is not open to the public since the 19th century. Mestres da Gravura (Masters of Engraving) is a ride through 4 centuries of history of art that features over 170 paintings. To guarantee the quality of the exhibition, 27 images were restored and all the works has gone through a meticulous cleaning process.

Fernanda Terra is the curator of the exhibition.

60 anos da telenovela brasileira
(60 years of Bazilian Soap Operas)


Celebrating the 60th anniversary of Brazilian soap opera, Iguatemi Shopping brings to Brasília the exhibition 60 anos de Telenovela Brasileira (60 years of Brazilian Soap Opera). The exhibition has been presented in São Paulo, Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.

Brazilian soap operas are considered the best in the world, and the exhibition features some of the reasons for this to happen. Costumes form different decades, props, and objects that made history in television will be exposed.

The exhibition is a great opportunity to know or remember the classic productions and the historical moments of Brazilian Soap Operas.

Os Gigantes da Era do Gelo
(The Ice Age Giants)


The exhibition Os Gigantes da Era do Gelo (Ice Age Giants) comes to Brasília after touring around the world. With replicas of the animals that lived in the ice age, the exhibition can easily fascinate children and adults.

Os Gigantes da Era do Gelo (Ice Age Giants) introduces 11 replicas in real size of rhinos, mammoths, saber-toothed tigers among many others. The exhibition demanded over two years of hard work that were supervised by paleontologists of PaleoWorks. The replicas are made of polyurethane, resin and natural fibers, making the animals look as real as possible.

Claudio Nathan is the curator of the exhibition; he was also responsible for the success of the exhibition Dinossauros da Patagônia (Patagonia’s Dinosaurs). Os Gigantes da Era do Gelo (Ice Age Giants) has passed by Czech Republic, Europe and South America. Brasília is the third stop of the exhibition in Brazil. São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro has hosted it already.

Fazer Arte - A Ordem Oculta de Bernardo CID
(To do Art - Bernardo Cid's hidden order)


Bernardo Cid is one of the most talented artists from the 1960’s and 1970’s. Celebrating his work, the exhibition Fazer Arte – A Ordem Oculta de Bernardo Cid (To do Art – Bernardo Cid’s hidden order) presents a retrospective of the 40 years of Mr. Cid’s work. The exhibition shows pieces that were spread all over the world in private collections and important public institutions. Some of the works present in the exhibition belongs to Bernardo Cid’s widow Lucia Kairovsky.

A total of 100 pieces will be exhibited, prints, drawings, paintings and sculptures among them. Sérgio Pizoli, the curator of the exhibition, intends to reveal through the selected pieces the majesty of Mr. Cid’s work.

Bernardo Cid was a painter, printmaker, designer and sculptor. He created the sculpture Jabuti (Tortoise), which inspired the award statuette of Prêmio Jabuti de Literatura (Tortoise Award of Literature). In the 1960s, Mr. Cid participated of the group Realismo Mágico (Magic Realism) along with Wesley Duke Lee, and began working with a social focus, moving from realism to magical realism with influences of pop art.

The exhibition 1908 – Um Brasil em Exposição (1908 – Brazil in the Show) opened this month at Caixa Cultural, inviting everyone to a time travel back in the days when events related to Arts were so important in Brazil as World Cups and Olympic Games.
              
Margareth da Silva Pereira is the curator of the show that reveals details of Exposição Nacional de 1908 (National Exhibition of 1908), a landmark in the Brazilian Arts that celebrated the centenarian of the opening of Brazilian ports to international markets. The historical exhibition that took place in Brazil in 1908 was decisive to the process of globalization of the country and introduced Rio de Janeiro as the new capital of the Republic, for both Brazilians and foreigners.

1908 – Um Brasil em Exposição (1908 – Brazil in the Show) presents images of the event that not only caused a great impact on the economy, the Arts, the culture and the history of Brazil, but also revealed the country to its own people, showing for the first time the contrasts that make Brazil unique.

at Câmara dos Deputados
(House of Representatives)

The painter Inos Corradin is celebrating 60 years of artistic activity, adding more than 240 international exhibitions, an average of two per year. The works have unrealistic ideas, playful and ironic. The result is a subtle humor.

The show represents the trajectory of this artist, who turns 82 years old during the event. It also coincides with the opening of the Year of Italy in Brazil, a country that influenced the formation of Brazilian culture, which owes much to Italian influence, with the immigrants who arrived in Brazil in the nineteenth century.

About Inos Corradin:

Born in 1929 in Vogogna (Italy), Inos Corradin has lived in Brazil since 1950. Brought the shapes and colors of the villages of his childhood and here mixed with his experience in the New World. The artist has been honored by the Brazilian House of Representatives in 2008, with the exhibition alluding to the 50 years of painting and also received honors from the Italian government, with exhibitions and commendations, including his hometown in 2009. He has exhibited in countries of South America and North America, the Middle East and Europe. He also received several awards in Italy, France and South Korea among others.

Exhibition CASULO
is refurbished at
Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil - CCBB

Refurbished and reopened three months ago, the permanent exhibition “Casulo”, with pieces of Darlan Rosa, is available at the outer space of CCBB.

Success among children and adults, the works now have recycled wooden decks and the floor was made with tires for greater security for all.
