in BRASILIA


The band Simple Minds, famous in the world in the 80’s with the hit Don’t You (Forget About Me) will perform in Brasilia this Saturday, August 21, at Ginásio Nilson Nelson.

The Scottish band led by vocalist Jim Kerr will present the successes of the past, including Alive and kicking and tracks from the album Graffiti soul, from 2009, in addition to current songs. According to Mr. Kerr, the performance will present classics and surprises for the audience.

The band, which is formed by Charlie Burchill (guitar), Mel Gaynor (drums), Andy Gillespie (keyboards) and Eddie Duffy (bass), will also perform in the cities of Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Porto Alegre.

Where: Eixo Monumental, next to Estádio mane Garrincha (Mané Garrincha Soccer stadium) and Centro de Convenções Ulysses Guimarães ( Convention Center), after the TV Tower.

Concerts in honor of bicentennial of Frederic Chopin at Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil

 

The Centro Cultural Banco do Brazil (CCBB) has, between July 27 and August 17, 2010 always on Tuesdays, a music series in honor of the bicentennial of the Polish pianist Frederic Chopin.
The initiative adds to a series of events happening simultaneously around the world, but has a differentiated approach to the composer's work, highlighting lesser known aspects of his work.

The award-winning Italian pianist Francesco Libetta and the greatest Brazilian clarinetist Paulo Sergio Santos are guests of honor of the event, which features interpretations of works yet unpublished in Brazil by some of the most prominent names in Brazilian and European music scene.

Brazilian Popular and erudite Music at Complexo Cultural Funarte


 

From July to November the Espaço Cassia Eller at Complexo Cultural Funarte (Cultural Complex) will stage a series of 40 musical performances, and workshops, lectures and courses related to area of music and culture.

The shows will be divided into popular music - vocal and instrumental - always on Fridays, at 8:30pm and classical music on Saturdays at 5pm.

There will be 20 presentations of invited artists of Brazilian Popular Music (MPB), with the task of walking along a timeline on the history of MPB, from the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day.

The artists who stand on nights when the stage is taken by classical music share the same goal. Chronologically, older composers who marked the various periods of Brazilian classical and contemporary music through the twentieth century, as Radames, Claudio Santoro and Villa Lobos. Their work will be presented to the public.
