The Chapada dos Veadeiros is a beautiful place just 2 ½ hours away from Brasília, by car. The place presents their visitors with a splendorous landscape, and is a place where inhabitants and visitors have become more and more aware of its great cultural and natural value. A place with many attractions, with flower fields, canyons, mountains, waterfalls, mines, forests and special plants used for medical and cooking purposes. And we cannot forget to mention the cultural events that take place throughout the year. One of them is the X Encontro de Culturas Tradicionais da Chapada dos Veadeiros (X Meeting of Traditional Cultures), which will take place in Vila de São Jorge (São Jorge Village) from July 16 to 31st.

The event is a great encounter of artists from many Brazilian states, workshops and much more. One of the most interesting events will be the Aldeia Multiétnica (multi-ethnic village), an encounter of  several indigenous groups coming from different regions of the country who meet to celebrate and a unique experience, together with visitors to the Village. You will feel being somewhere in the Amazon! The place is 5 km from Vila de São Jorge and this year there will be Indians from the tribes Kayapo Krahô, Yawalapiti, Fulni-ô, Kiriri, Dessana, Guarani-Kaiowa, and Kaxinawá Paresí.

The X Encontro de Culturas Tradicionais da Chapada dos Veadeiros (X Meeting of Traditional Cultures) will also open space for discussions on public policies and cultural actions. On July 27 and 28 will be held the 14th Meeting of the National Policy for Sustainable Development of Peoples and Traditional Communities, which will be attended by representatives from the Brazilian government, civil society and cultural events in other countries. On July 29 and 30, will happen the Seminar on Cultural Diversity. Topics of culture of the Centro Oeste (Brazilian Midwest Region) and Tocantins will also be discussed from July 26th and 31st and will include self-management and entrepreneurship issues, among others.

Chapada dos Veadeiros is definitely a place worth to know. It is not far from Brasilia (less than 3 hours drive) and the town of Alto Paraíso and the Vila de São Jorge have many Inns.
