"Alto Paraíso"
Alto Paraíso is the Chapada dos Veadeiros' main county. The city has been baptized as the "Capital of the third millennium ". It is considered the sanctuary of mysticism, esoterism, and spiritualism . Crossed by parallel 14, as Machu Picchu , in Peru , it has fantastic stories about flying saucers and extraterrestrial beings.

Besides esoterism, the city is also ideal for eco-tourism . A bit of magic makes Alto Paraíso the stage of incredible scenes, where nature shows itself with exuberant beauty, mountains, valleys, waterfalls, crystal mines and exotic animals . The sunset seen from the airport, near the town entrance, is an image you cannot miss. Best of all, Alto Paraíso is only 230 km away from Brasília.

How to get there:
By Car - You take BR 020, as if going to Formosa-GO. A fter Sobradinho and Planaltina-GO, at the cloverleaf , go left at GO 118 going through São Gabriel and São João D`Aliança , finally arriving at Alto Paraíso.

"Cavalcante"
What would make someone visit Cavalcante? In the first place , the great number of waterfalls : there are 150 of them in the region. Secondly , the stillness of a place that is not yet very well known and that maintains the ways of the countryside.

Finally, Cavalcante had in its territory the most important "Quilombo" (that's how slaves refugee camps/sanctuaries were called) of Brazil ; it's the home of the Kalunga people.

Cavalcante has a population of about 9.150 . I t is located at Chapada dos Veadeiros , northeast of the State of Goiás , 320 km away from Brasília. Cavalcante has a tropical climate, with an average temperature of 26°C. The vegetation is exuberant and diversified. The region has two defined seasons; the dry season, that goes from March to November and the rainy season, that goes from December to February.

Cavalcante was founded in 1740, and became a city in 1831. Being surrounded by mountains and waterfalls, the city's main source of income was once gold mining.

The region has many exotic places. Its main attractions are the waterfalls, thermal waters, belvedere and mountains, fluvial beaches with white sands and old sidewalks made of stones by the slaves in the 18th century.

The city is the perfect place to observe, photograph, mountain bike, trekking, horseback riding and radical adventures.

Downtown you'll find one of Brazil 's oldest goldmines still working. The Kalunga area is the biggest remaining Quilombo community , with about 4.000 people who made their first contact with civilization less than 30 years ago. This region is still untouched

"Cidade de Goiás" (City Of Goiás)
Cidade de Goiás, a historical treasure , is 320 km away from Brasília. The city is also known by the name of Goiás Velho (Old Goiás) . This city is so rich in architecture and culture that it was designated by UNESCO as a Cultural Patrimony of Humanity.

Museums and churches from the colonial period are the most visited attractions . The best way to get around town is walking. The streets are very narrow , and since they are made of stones, going around town in a car is not a very easy task. So , if you're in town , put on a comfortable outfit and shoes.

Another attraction is the food. Arroz com pequi (rice with Souari nut), bolo de arroz (rice cake), tutu de feijão (a dish prepared with beans, bacon and manioc ) and homemade sweets of all types.

"Chapada dos Veadeiros"
Located at about 230 km away from Brasília, this region offers many attractions for those who enjoy adventures, trails and waterfalls. Once there, the visitor has the impression that he is in an enchanted place, since the region has a unique geological structure and a mystical aura that comes from the influence of the "alternative movement" in the 70s.

Located in the oldest geological part of the continent - the Araí plate , and formed 1.8 billion years ago, Chapada dos Veadeiros (Veadeiros Plateau) is the most luminous point seen from the Earth's orbit, according to NASA.

Being an area of incomparable beauty, Chapada dos Veadeiros is interesting to visit both in the dry season and in the rainy one. Because of the amazing energy present in the region, it attracts people interested in mysticism and eco-tourism. It is also famous for its waterfalls, hiking trails and unforgettable landscape. Here, nature remains untouched by civilization, merit to IBAMA, environmental institutions, the local community and the local public administration.

In the words of UFO expert Ergon Abraham , "it's a place destined to be the cradle of the new man , or even the cradle of a new race".

"Morro do Centenário" (Centenário Hill)
Area formed by the Creek "Pipiripau", with several small waterfalls forming a natural pool.
Location: DF 410, Km 07 in front of the sign "TAQUARA"
Access: Take BR 020 until km 19, in the direction of Planaltina. When reaching DF 410, turn right on a dirt road for 7 km, until you reach the sign saying "Taquara". Continue until the entrance of the property.
"Pirenópolis"
Pirenópolis is a very beautiful little town just 140 km from Brasília. It has exuberant nature, comfortable facilities, rich history and amazing artistic productions. A great place to be visited.

"Três Ranchos"

The small and charming city of Três Ranchos , became one of the main touristic attractions in the Middle-East region of Brazil . With a population of less than three thousand and many luxurious summer houses, 300 km from Brasília, in the south of Goiás, near Minas gerais. Três Ranchos shows that this region also has some Caribean characteristics. Lots of water, sun, palm trees, beaches and all of the amazing beauty of nature. Eleven times bigger than the Bacia da Guanabara, the Lago Azul ( Blue Lake ), as so it is called because of its splendid blue waters, is ideal for all types of water sports. The city offers structure and equipments for the practice of water sports such as: fishing, jet ski, sail, kaiaking and wakeboard.
Until 1954, with the name of Paranaíba de Goiás the city, two years later, got back the right to use its old name, Três Ranchos. The Lago Azul (Blue Lake), was created from the construction of the hydroelectric power station of Emborcação, and the privileged location, near great tourism centers such as: Brasília, Goiânia and Uberlândia, made it easy for the city to become the "place" for water sports lovers, in some times of the year receiving up to 10 times the number of city natives.
Três Ranchos has a great visual presentation and it is a very pleasent place for those who seek inner peace and contact with nature. Washed by a great lake, the city has a diversified leisure area, where tourists can have fun with jet-skis, boats and fishing.
