We start the year of 2005.
The last months of 2004 left us two great lessons.
The first one is that we need to swiftly modernize our regulations so that they can attend the current needs of an organization like ours.
The second is that we must see what our associates expect from this institution. It is true that the social matter is important. However, each time with greater intensity, it is required that we give as much attention to the social and sportive matters, as well as academic and informative ones.
For 2005, the Board of Directors is discussing a reform in our rules and regulations, which allow us to come closer to the possibility of obtaining the judicial character of an institution. We also intend to create the status of Full Associate, Active Associate and Honor Associate, which will allow us to attend everyone who works in the diplomatic corps, in diplomatic missions, and be introduced in the most important social, academic and politic sectors in Brazil.
Also, our activities must be more diverse in the academic area, especially with activities that allow us to improve our knowledge of the international circumstances and the world organizations that have representation in Brazil and that are performing specific programs which deserve to be recognized and publicized with our support.
In the end, we hope that the most important aspect be the aid that our institution can provide, effectively, to all the associates, both through advantageous agreements of all kinds, and with activities that aim to meet the need of a swift and pleasurable stay of the diplomats and their families in Brasília.
To achieve all this, we need a greater number of associates and for that reason, after Carnival, our first action will be to make a campaign to attract new associates. This is an initiative to which we invite all of you.
