EMBASSY of Germany CELEBRATES CARNIVAL

The Embassy of Germany celebrated on February 13th of 2009 a great carnival ball with the presence of hundreds of guests.
Ambassador of the German Embassy, Mr. Friedrich Prot von Kunow (dressed for the great event) and Secretary of Culture of the Distrito Federal, Mr. Sylvestre Gorgulho, also wearing the T-shirt of the “Pacotão” , one of the most famous Carnival bands of Brasília.
Hundreds of guests enjoyed the Brazilian Carnival rhythms.

The ambassador of Germany, Mr. Friedrich Prot von Kunow, hosted the carnival event, with the support of the Secretary of Culture of the Distrito Federal, Mr. Sylvestre Gorgulho and Many other authorities of the Government of the Distrito Federal.

The social halls of the Germany Embassy were full with guests, several of them wearing customs and all of them enjoying the extremely entertaining party. Ambassadors of various countries, parliamentarians, diplomats, all gave in to the very cheerful rhythm of the Brazilian carnival. One of the utmost personalities of the Brazilian carnival, carnavalista Joãozinho Trinta, famous all around the country for having greatly contributed on the glamorous parades of schools of samba in the city of Rio de Janeiro, was present at the event and took lots of compliments from most guests.

All guests of the unforgettable ball had the chance to watch and participate to several presentations of the Brazilian Carnival traditional rhythm and cultural habits. The presentations were focus on rhythms of the traditional drums of the Bahia state, axe-music, including the famous marchinhas of carnival and short verse songs, all presented by the famous Pacotão Block of Brasilia. Traditional characters of the Brazilian carnival parades were also present at the event, such as the “Rei Momo” (King Momo) and the famous brunettes samba dancers, all immensely photographed by all.

Another great moment of the party was the election of the best custom, where the public chose the best female and male custom. In the male category, the first prize was given to the prisoner and as for the female first prize it went to a little girl with the custom of a fairy.

This was the second edition of the Carnival Ball of the German Embassy, that slowly starts to become a traditional event in the agenda of the Carnival of Brasilia. The ambassador of Germanyy, Mr. Friedrich Prot Von Kunow, was congratulated by all for the wonderful and joyful party that cheered all until the early hours of the dawn.
The Carnival Ball was a great moment of joy.
