Get To Know Brazil

exhibition observadores do horizonte (Horizon observers)

From August 3rd to 28th, the National Museum of the Cultural Complex of the Republic, the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Goethe-Zentrum Brasília presents the exhibition “Observadores do Horizonte" (Horizon Observers).

Dozens of guests at the vernissage.

German artists Veit Hofmann, Helge Leiberg and Hans Scheib, seen here with curator Michael Müller.

Beautiful paintings in the exhibition.

The exhibition vernissage was on August 2nd and had the presence of the ambassador of Germany, Mr. Wilfried Grolig, the Secretary for Cultural Affairs of the Federal District, Mr. Hamilton Pereira da Silva and many other government authorities, executives, artists, businessmen, students and personalities of Brasilia’s society.
For the first time in Brazil, the paintings and sculptures of German artists Veit Hofmann, Helge Leiberg and Hans Scheib brings an art consisted of reminiscences of a near past, when resistance by reason overcame the fear, prejudice, brutality and ignorance.
The exhibition is curated by Michael Müller, significant xylographer that, as the artists of this exhibition, was born in the former German Democratic Republic (East Germany). Hofmann, Leiberg and Sheib face the experience of division and dictatorship and the challenges of growing up in two separate societies.
