The Diplomatic Corps gathered on October 26th of 2006 to celebrate the National Day of Austria. The Austrian Ambassador, Mr. Werner Brandstetter, welcomed dozens of guests for the commemorative event organized at the embassy, in which included a craftwork exhibition from the Brazilian Indian tribes from Alto Rio Negro.

The cocktail happened at the outside area of the embassy, where the guests could enjoy a cold meat buffet accompanied by national and imported wines. An attraction aside was the presence of the Austrian companies Red Bull and Austria Beer, offering everyone a degustation of their many drinks.

The mood of joy and celebration was steady.
Among the presents there were ambassadors, diplomats, authorities of the Brazilian government, businessmen and personalities from the society of Brasilia. After the arrival of all guests, the band of the Brazilian Navy played the anthems of Brazil, Austria and European Union.

After the national anthems, the Ambassador Werner Brandstetter gave a quick speech thanking everyone's presence and mentioning the strong friendship between Austria and Brazil, which include in their own historical registries the marriage in 1817 of Mrs. Maria Leopoldina, daughter of the Austrian emperor Franz I with the next emperor of Brazil, Dom Pedro I.

The sympathy of the Ambassador Werner Brandstetter, and his wife Leonei Maria Brandstetter and of the other Austrian diplomats was constant in an event marked by the joyfulness and the confraternization.

The event was full of joy.




Many guests enjoyed and acquired many of the craftworks from the Tribes from Alto Rio Negro, exposed in the entrance hall of the embassy. When leaving, everyone was thanked by receiving a book about the life of the explorer Johann Natterer, the first Austrian in the deep Amazon, which explored the region in the beginning of the 19th Century.
