The embassy of the United States of America celebrated its Independence Day on Sunday, July the 2nd at the official residence in the district of Parkway.
Over 1500 people were present at the official residence.




Mr. Phillip T. Chicola, Counselor Minister and Charge d'Affaires at the American embassy and his wife, Mrs. Victoria Chicola.
Over 1,500 guests attended this official and community celebration; among them ambassadors, diplomats, Brazilian authorities, businessmen and members of the American community in Brasilia. All guests were welcomed by U.S. Embassy officers, Mickey and Minnie as they walked through a display of the 'America the Beautiful' poster contest entries created by U.S. school-age students.

The weather couldn't have been better (sunny) for the many attractions and activities that were part of this friendly and family event. Adults and teens played many games like volleyball, soccer and American football, while kids enjoyed rides and games set up on the residence yards.

The Embassy organizers set up various stands with many volunteers serving delicious snacks, beverages, ice cream as well as the genuine and traditional American hamburgers and hot dogs. The cheerful atmosphere was present all over the place.
The traditional American hamburgers were served for the guests.




Members of the Brasilia's society and diplomats enjoyed the event.

The event was sponsored by many U.S. and Brazilian corporations who displayed banners, products and services, including imported and national cars, travel ideas, health screenings as well as massages! Guests also took part of a raffle of hundred of prizes including two round trip air tickets to the United States.

The patriotic and civic ceremony started before dusk with the U.S. Marine detachment presenting the colors and arms. This was followed by the Brazilian and U.S. National Anthems sang by well known singer Mrs. Della Henry.

Everybody applauded his remarks and Miss Erica Chicola started to sing 'America the Beautiful' while the traditional fireworks started coloring the sky. It was a brilliant ending for a remarkable celebration.
