On June 8th, the embassy of the United Kingdom celebrated its National Day and the birthday of Queen Elizabeth.

Hundreds of guests appeared in the event and congratulated the ambassador, Mr. Peter Salmon Collecott, and his wife, Mrs. Judith Patricia Pead and other representatives of the British government for the significance of this date.

The guests were received in the reception area which was set up especially for the event on the yards of the embassy. There, the attendees savour the wonderful Scottish salmon and whisky, the delicious British cheese, lager and also Brazilian and imported wines.

After the arrival of everybody, the British ambassador, Mr. Collecott, made a speech underlining the growth of the relations between Great Britain and Brazil. Thereafter the Brazilian minister, Mr. Sergio Rezende, spoke in the name of the Brazilian president Mr. Luis Inacio Lula da Silva, demonstrating the satisfaction of the government of Brazil about the increasing relations with the United Kingdom, which is expanding to several areas.

Brazilian minister of technology and science, Mr. Sergio Rezende, points out the increase in the relations between Brazil and the UK to the mindful of audience.


The Military Band of Brasilia played the national anthems of Brazil and United Kingdom, and after the minister and all the attendees drink to a toast in commemoration of such an important date.

Mr. Collecott, ambassador of Great Britain proposed a toast celebrating the important day.
Like in the past years, the event became cheery with the performance of a musical group which played successes of all times and great English hits among them. The rhythm spread to everybody and people danced until the first ours after midnight.
The event kept a lot of joy by the first ours after midnight.
