On August 6th of 2006, Mrs. Lia Hadiyan, wife of the Military Attaché from the embassy of Indonesia, Col. Hadiyan, took in her home, friends from the Military Attachés Wives Association in Brazil, besides wives from the Brazilian military and friends from the embassy of Indonesia.

The executives from the Marriott Hotels Network in Brazil carried out an extensive visiting schedule to the Diplomatic Corps and organizations from the Federal Government in Brasilia on the last months.

Another ASEAN (Asian Southeast Nations Association) anniversary was celebrated on August 9th of 2006. In its 39th year, the celebration took place at the Official Residence of Indonesian embassy.

The Amigas do Brasil Group, directed by Mrs. Lucia Fuentes, from the embassy of Costa Rica, has been developing extremely generous works for the community of Distrito Federal. They get together monthly in one of the members' house to gather contributions, define assistance places among other fundamental details during this work.

The Ambassador of Honduras, Mr. Victor Manuel Lozano Urbina and the ambassador's wife Rosa Maria Lozano welcomed the guests for a lunch in their residence where a decoration from the Honduran Government took place, to the Honduras' Consul in São Paulo, Mr. Fábio Ferraz Bicudo Júnior. The event happened at the same day of the National Day of Honduras celebration.

The Beneficiary Tea from the Amigas do Brasil Group, happened on the afternoon on August 17th of 2006 at Churchill Lounge Bar - Cigar Jazz Club, at the Hotel Meliá Brasília and counted with the presence of the Amigas do Brasil president, Mrs. Ana Lucia Fuentes and her daughter, Ms. Victoria Fuentes, as well as other members of the group.

The ambassador of Ukraine, Mr.Yuri Bogaiesvky and the Ukrainian diplomats in Brazil, received guests on June 5th, at the Ukrainian embassy for the celebration of an Agreement of Cooperation for the Information exchange between the National News Agency of the Ukraine (UKRINFORM) and the Empresa Brasileira de Comunicação S.A. (RADIOBRAS).

The African Embassies organized a great celebration for the Africa's day. The event took place on May 25th of 2006, at the residence of the Angolan Ambassador, Mr. Alberto Correia Neto.

Brasília was one of the cities which the Master of Israeli defense fight Kobi Lichtenstein launched his new book entitled "KRAV MAGÁ - The philosophy of the Israeli Defence". The launch took place on May 31st 2006 at Livraria Cultura (Cultura Bookstore) in Shopping Casa Park.

The Embassy of Nicarágua promoted a Cocktail on May 3rd 2006 to celebrate the arrival of the new Ambassador Mrs. Suyapa Indiana Padilla Tercero.

The pre-school Affinity Arts promoted on the 8th of April, a book fair and garage sale.

The launch of the event "Lima, Patrimonio Cultural da Humanidade", with the exhibition of artistic pictures by the photographer Daniel Giannoni, happened from April 27th to April 29th at the Peruvian embassy.

The Cine Brasília, located at Asa Sul, received many guests on May 25th, 2006 on the launch cocktail of European Cinema Festival 2006, from May 23rd to June 7th 2006.

Aliança Francesa is a traditional institution of French Language and Culture teaching. It has opened a new franchise in Brasília at Setor Sudoeste on the 06th of April 2006.

The Ambassador's Wife Group is under new Presidency, Vice-Presidency and Board of Directors since the last month of April.

The Péter Murányi Foundation presented on the 26th of April 2006, the ceremony of the Péter Murányi Award 2006. The event took place at Espaço Rosa Rosarum, in the city of São Paulo and have received hundreds of guests, among them was Mr. Cláudio Lembo, Governor of the state of São Paulo.

The American School in Brasília promoted on march 17th the Latin Enchanted Evening 2006. The party took place at one of the courts at the school and had the presence of dozens of people.

The Group of Ambassadresses (Grupo de Embaixatrizes) realized in the afternoon of March 8th, 2006 a celebrative encounter for the International Woman’s Day.

The South African Embassy realized in March 8th 2006 a dinner to celebrate the International Woman’s Day.

The American Women Club International – AWCI, realized a meeting with its members in February 7th 2006, followed by musical presentations.

The governments of Ukraine and Venezuela celebrated a bilateral agreement on February 23rd 2006. The diplomatic event happened on Ukrainian embassy. Ambassadors, diplomats from both countries and guests from the society of Brasília were present at the event.

The Counsellor of the Egypt Embassy, Mr. Ihab Ahmed Aboserie Ahmed, and his wife, Mrs. Sarah Mossaad Youssef Behairy, received dozens of guests in a cocktail to celebrate the beginning of the year 2006.

The Ambassador of Korea, Mr. Kwang-dong Kim, hosted dozen of guests on Friday, January 13th, for a farewell dinner of his staying in Brazil.

The Embassy of South Africa promoted on last December a social meeting to the Diplomatic Corps in Brasília celebrating the end of the year.

The Director-President of THE GUIDE, Mr. Pedro Paulo Moreira, was honored by the Ambassador of Ukraine in Brazil, Mr. Yurii Bogaievsky, with a diploma for the work developed in favor of the increasing of the friendly relations between the countries of Ukraine and Brazil.

On December 05, 2005, the Embassy of Ukraine promoted a social dinner to celebrate the agreements between the space agencies of Brazil and Ukraine.

On December 2nd, 2005, concluding the project "Fundo para Eqüidade de Gênero - Brasil" (Funds to Equity of Genre - Brazil) FIG - the Embassy of Canada and the Canadian Agency to International Development, promoted the launching of the book "Reflexões sobre a Diversidade no Mundo do Trabalho" (Reflections about the Diversity in the Working Environment). The host of the event was the Ambassador of Canada in Brazil, Mr. Guillermo Rishchynski.

On December 1st, at 6:00p.m., Mr. Vinod Thomas, ex-Director of the World Bank Office in Brazil (Bird) and, nowadays, Director-General of the World Bank's Operations Evaluation Department in Washington, launched at Livraria Cultura, in Casa Park Shopping, the book "O Brasil visto por dentro: desenvolvimento em uma terra de contrastes".

The Ambassador of Greece in Brazil, Mr. Andonios Nicolaidis, welcomed dozen of guests to a ceremony promoted to homage the Brazilian athletes worldly recognized by their performances at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

On November, 29th, the Ambassador of Italy, Mr. Michele Valensise, promoted the opening of the "Venezia Cinema Italiano" (Venice Italian Cinema).

General Rohan de Silva Daluwatte, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Brazil, welcomed dozens of distinguished guests to his residence in Lago Sul for a farewell dinner on October 21st, 2005.

On October 19, the Ambassador of New Zealand in Brazil, Mrs. Denise Almao, welcomed her distinguished guests at "Clube Naval de Brasília", offering them a farewell dinner.

The Affinity Arts School celebrated Children's Day (a Brazilian Holiday commemorated every October, 12th, which is dedicated to kids) in the headquarters of the Fire Brigade Department of Lago Sul.

On October 7th, 2005, The Group of Ambassadresses promoted a fashion show of typical costumes of the nations of the international community. The event was held at the "Clube das Nações", in the Setor de Clubes Sul of Brasília, and it also included a gastronomic festival with the traditional dishes of the participating countries.

The Embassy of Egypt celebrated the Day of the Egyptian Armed Forces on October 6th, 2005, receiving dozens of guests to a festive dinner at “Clube da Aeronáutica de Brasília”.

On October 19th the Ambassador of Argentina, Mr. Juan Pablo Lohlé, together with the other diplomats from the Argentinean Embassy, offered a wine tasting of the best labels of wine from Argentina, imported by Grand Cru Importer, at the Ambassador’s residence.

The AMIGAS DO BRASIL Group, formed by ladies who are wives of members of the Diplomatic Corps and for Brazilian ladies, got together on September 22nd and October 6th in order to schedule the social actions that will be executed until the end of the year.

On October 18th, the Arab Chamber of Commerce and the Embassy of Saudi Arabia invited the Arab citizens residing in Brasília and the Diplomatic Community to a dinner reception for the release of the Al Qur’an in Portuguese, translated by Dr. Helmi Mohammed Ibraim Nasr.

The Consul Association in Brazil–ACONBRAS promoted on September 27th, 2005, the annual dinner celebrating The Consul’s Day and also the 21st anniversary of its foundation.

The Intercontinental Hotel of São Paulo promoted from September 26th to October 1st, 2005, the Gastronomic Festival of Coimbra.

On September 27th, the Embassy of Canada organized the vernisage of the exhibition Cuba Chronicles, showing photographs of the artist Elaine Ling, put together by Mrs. Ling while at the Island of Cuba, one of the many countries she has visited along 10 years.

On September 27th, the Ambassador of Hungary, Dr. Jószef Németh invited a select group of European Ambassadors and representatives of the Brazilian government for a cocktail reception welcoming Secretary András Bársony, of the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On September 23rd, the very excellent ladies of AWCI held their monthly meeting at the residence of the Ambassadress of Denmark, Mrs. Pia Konigsfeldt, co fraternizing at breakfast and assembling to discuss the coming activities of the Club.

On September 19th, the Ambassador of Austria, Mr. Werner Brandstetter, invited the Diplomatic Community and Brazilian Diplomatic Community to welcome Dr. Heinz Fischer in his first visit to Brazil, at the Embassy of Austria.

Latin Party and Flashbacks, promoted by the Association of Diplomats – ASDIBRA gathered over 150 people in an evening of a lot of energy and excitement.

On August 9th, the Embassy of Finland invited the Diplomatic Community for the vernisage of the exhibition "Alvar Aalto" at the mezzanine of the National Theater.

On August 8th, the Ambassadress of Bolivia, Mrs. Georgette Canedo de Camacho released her latest novel in Brasília, at “Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil”, with the presence of several members of the Diplomatic Community.

On August 4th, the Ambassador of Tunisia, Mr. Hassine Bouzid honored the Consul Heinz Huyer the Degree of Great Officer of the Order of the Republic of Tunisia, for his excellent contributions to the country.

The Embassy of the United States of America celebrated the 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United States with the community with a barbeque at the U.S. Embassy Residence Parkway. Mickey and Minnie, the official hosts, greeted all guests as they entered the residence.

On June 11th, the Ambassadress of Honduras, Mrs. Rosa Maria Alvarado de Lozano, organized a birthday party to the Ambassador Victor Manuel Lozano Urbina, receiving many guests at their home.

The American Women's Club International - AWCI - organized another event to gather money to assist the 17 institutions that the Club helps. The ladies from the AWCI "walked the Catwalk" to show all their charm and finesse, wearing the jewelry of Mrs. Julieta Pedrosa, Director of Social Services of the Club and hostess of the event.

The Affinity Arts School held their annual "Festa Junina", the Affinity Arts June Festival, with all the students and their families enjoying a wonderful time.

The Group of Ambassadresses organized the Beneficent Bingo, on June 3rd, at Clube Naval, with the presence of many members of the Diplomatic Community.

On May 25th, at the residence of the Ambassador of Nigeria, Mr. Josef Sookore Egbuson, several African Embassies got together for a diverse banquet and a joyful party.

On May 23rd the Ambassadors of 5 different Asian countries predominantly Buddhist, met at the “Templo Budista da Terra Pura” ( Buddhist Temple of the Pure Land ) to prey on Buddha's birthday

On May 16, the Australian Embassy celebrated the 60 years of relations between Brazil and Australia . The Ambassador of Australia, Mr. John Sullivan and his wife, Mrs. Patricia Sullivan, hosted the community at Clube Naval for a cheerful party.

On April 28th, The art gallery "Galeria de Arte Dulcinéia Martins de Souza", located inside the restaurant Picanhas do Sul, had the opening vernissage of "Mulheres Pintando Mulheres" (Women Painting Women), with local artists paintings in honor of women.

The Ambassador of Austria, Mr. Werner Brandstetter, and the Austrian company Red Bull Energy Drink promoted a party, on April 26, and invited the diplomatic sector and the citizezens of Brasília to an event which "gave wings" to the guests.

On April 21, 2005, the capital of Brazil celebrated its 45th anniversary. It was a beautiful day and the sons and daughters of Brasília enjoyed all kinds of activities outdoors.

One of the most important novels of the Spanish America's literature, "Pedro Páramo", written by the enigmatic Juan Rulfo, is released in Brazil. At the cocktail, promoted by the Ambassador of Mexico, Mrs. Cecilia Soto González (second from left to right), Senator José Sarney (far left), Mr. Eric Nepomuceno (far right), and Mrs. Nélida Piñon lectured about this important novel and its author.
