1 - THE GUIDE: How long have you been in Brazil ?
Mr. Pedro Paulo Moreira, thank you for giving me the opportunity to discuss the relations between Cameroon and Brazil especially on the eve of the celebration of the Cameroon National Day on 20 May 2009. The Guide is doing an excellent job in promoting understanding between Brazil and different countries of the world. Answering your question, I have been in Brazil for eight months. |

2 - THE GUIDE: Did you come straight from Cameroon or were you working in another country before ?
I came from Ottawa, Canada, where I was serving as Minister Counseller and Chargé d’Affaires a.i in Cameroon Embassy. Before then, I also served in our Embassies in London (UK) and Washington, DC (USA). |
3- THE GUIDE: Did you bring your family?
Yes, I brought my family, my wife and kids. |
4 – THE GUIDE: Have you already visited other Brazilian cities? Which ones?
Yes, São Paulo (twice), Rio de Janeiro (3 times), Salvador (once) and I plan to visit other cities. |

5 –THE GUIDE: How do you find relations between your country and Brazil?
Very excellent. Relations between Cameroon and Brazil can be qualified as profound, privileged and promising. |
6 – THE GUIDE: What are the main products Cameroon deals with Brazil?
Trade between our two countries is dynamic. It covers the following products.
Brazilian Export to Cameroon :
- Petrochemical products ; building/ construction materials and equipments, cement etc… agricultural machinery,
- Railway equipments
- Sugar products
- Motor vehicles
Brazilian imports from Cameroon :
- Cocoa paste, wood, rubber, cotton
There is great potential to expand our bilateral cooperation in the following areas:
- Agricultural research and machinery,
- Health, Infrastructure development,
- Aquaculture (fishery), Education,
Energy etc… |
5 –THE GUIDE: How are you adapting yourself to the new life in Brasilia? Are you enjoying living here?
Brazil is a beautiful country and Brasilia is a great and family friendly city. My family and I are enjoying life here and are still learning the Portuguese language in order to adapt faster to our new environment. |
5 –THE GUIDE: Do you see any similarities among the people from Cameroon and from Brazil ? Which ones?
There are so many similarities between Brazil and Cameroon namely:
Geography (climate, vegetation);
Socio-cultural : historical links : with the presence of a large population of afro-descendants in Brazil.
Similarities in the areas of culture, arts and cuisine;
Similarity in terms of the hospitality and spontaneous warmth shared by Brazilians and Africans;
Similarity in our love for the king sports – Football/Soccer. The Brazilian National football team has an age-old reputation in soccer in the global arena. |
