The Ambassador of Australia, Mr. Peter Heyward and his wife, Mrs. Susan Hewyard, welcomed guests on Saturday, January 27th, to celebrate the Day of Australia.

Mrs. Rachel Alvares, Ambassador’s secretary, was one of the responsible for the success of the event.
The event took place at the official residence, at Setor de Embaixadas Sul (South Embassy Sector) and counted with the presence of dozens of people, having among them ambassadors, diplomats, Brazilian authorities, businessmen and personalities from the society of Brasilia.

The celebration was made in a casual way, with the typical sympathy and joy from the Australians. After the guests' arrival, the Ambassador of Australia, Mr. Peter Heyward gave a short speech thanking for everyone's presence and briefly explained how the Australia Day is celebrated in his country.

After the Ambassador's speech, a musical group started a presentation that kept the event's energy with a variety of rhythms. The guests could also enjoy a photography exhibition from the Australian photographer Dominika Debska, which displayed some of her works on the residence's walls.

The guests enjoyed beautiful pictures of the exhibition “Muslin population living along the banks of the Nile River”.

The confraternizing atmosphere was present during the party, which kept on going until the first ours of Sunday's dawn.

The exciting celebration kept the confraternizing mood until the first hours of the following day.
