The artist, Mr. Mario Ulloa.
On September 15th, the Embassy of Costa Rica commemorated its National Day with a very special performance of the Costa Rican guitar player Mario Ulloa at the National Theater. The show was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Costa Rica together with the 1st International Musical Performance Seminar of UnB with the presence of a large audience, as the show was opened to the general public.

The Costa Rican artist Mario Ulloa was born within a family of strong musical traditions and studied at the Conservatory of Castella, in San José, Costa Rica. Now living in Bahia, he was invited by the Ambassador of Costa Rica, Mrs. Sara Faingezicht de Gloobe to perform at the celebration.

He was accompanied by one of the most important singers of Costa Rica, Soprano Zamira Barquero, who actually studied at the Conservatory of Castella, and with a vast curriculum of recitals around the world and prizes of music.

The concert had pieces of Carlos Gutierrez (Bajo la luz de la luna), Johann Sebastian Bach (Chaconne BW1004) and 12 studies of the Brazilian Master, Heitor Villa-Lobos, spectacularly performed by Mr. Mario Ulloa, in a very special homage to the people of Brazil. It wouldn’t be fair to say that after many years residing in Brazil, Mr. Ulloa has mastered the music of the greatest composer of the Brazilian Classical Music more than many in Brazil and anywhere.
A Mr. Mario Ulloa amazed the audience with incredible skills, perfect cadence and flawless sense of harmonic completion, closing his individual performance with a superb execution of 12 of the pieces composed by Heitor Villa-Lobos.
The duo performed traditional melancholic and most agreeable songs from Costa Rica.
Several Ambassadors and diplomats took advantage of watching this unforgettable opportunity of witnessing this spectacular artist perform.
