NATIONAL DAYS >> The Embassy of France celebrates its National Day
The diplomats of the Embassy of France greeted the guests at the entrance of "Clube de Golfe".
On June 14 th the diplomats of the French mission in Brasília offered a "vin d'honneur" for the Diplomatic Corps to celebrate the National Day of France. The celebration was held on the lovely lawns of "Clube de Golfe" at a most pleasant evening.
Hundreds of guests enjoyed the reception held at "Clube de Golfe" beneath a clear, starry sky.
Professional musicians performed excellent jazz music at the reception.
The colors of France Adorned the ambience.
Beneath the clear sky, sprinkled with bright stars, the Embassy of France offered the very famous French wines to the guests, and a wide variety of cheeses and pâtés to accompany the excellent wines of Bourgogne, Beaujolais, Val de Loire or others.
The guests enjoyed the exquisite French wine, cheeses and pâtés, traditional in France.
Joyfully chattering and enjoying the perfect match of the French wines and cheeses, hundreds of guests gathered at Clube de Golfe to honor the event, among Ambassadors, diplomats and Brazilian government authorities and representatives of Brazilian and international companies.

July 14th, is one of the most emblematic dates for the French citizens. It is the “Chute de la Bastille ” (Fall of the Bastille), the beginning of the Revolution characterized by illuminist ideals, lived by philosophers like Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau and Denis Diderot. Traditionally, the government of France prepares a number of events to celebrate this date and this year, 2005, as it is the “L'Anné du Brésil en France”, the Year of Brazil in France (the country honors one different country every year, and this year Brazil was chosen to receive the homage) the government of France has promoted the concert “Viva Brasil”, will with the presence of great representatives of the Brazilian arts, invited to perform at the Bastille square, such as Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Lenine, Daniela Mercury, Seu Jorge, Jorge Ben Jor, Jorge Mautner and the group “Ilê Ayê”. To receive the honors, and to present his compliments to France on its National Day, President Luis Inácio Lula da Silva went to France on July 13th , accompanied by the Ambassador of France in Brazil, Jean de Gliniasty. To represent the Ambassador, Minister Counsellor Philippe Garnier was temporarily nominated Chargé d'Affaires and hosted the guests at Clube de Golfe, together with his wife, Mrs. Martine Dorance, Counsellor of Culture of the French Embassy.

Minister Counsellor Philippe Garnier invited the guests to gather by the flag of France and listen to the performance of the National Anthems of Brazil and France. Then, Mr. Garnier gave a brief speech to the guests and thanked all for their presence and support to France.
