| On February 4th, the Embassy of Sri Lanka made a special ceremony in honor to Sri Lanka's National Day. It was a simple, quiet ceremony for the staff of the Embassy, only, in respect to the tragedy of the Tsunami, in December of 2004. |

| The Ambassador General Rohan de Silva Daluwatte hoisted the flag of Sri Lanka to the sound of the country's anthem. After bowing to the flag and making a swift prayer, the staff sang the anthem together. |

| After hoisting the flag, the Ambassador went back into the Embassy for the religious ceremony. The Ambassador lit a candle and sang, in the Buddhist fashion (religion of the majority of the population). A passage of the Bible was also read in the end of the ceremony. |

| After the ceremony, the staff of the Embassy got together for a meeting in which the Ambassador discussed some of the current events, read the speech of Mr. Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, President of Sri Lanka for this special date. |
