| On August 1st, the Ambassador of Switzerland, Mr. Rudolf Baerfuss and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Baerfuss, together with all the diplomats of the Embassy of Switzerland, offered the members of the Diplomatic Community a “vin d'honneur” to celebrate the National Day of Switzerland. |

| The reception took place at the Embassy, at the lovely gardens with a wonderful view of Lake Paranoá. It was a day that proved the saying that the sky of the capital is the ocean of Brasília, so blue and clear. And the hundreds of guests enjoyed the wonderful buffet lunch and refreshments chattering at the shadowed porch. |

| Switzerland is a small, mountainous and wealthy country in the heart of Europe. Famous for the dangerously delicious cheese and chocolate, the luxurious watches and the sharp Swiss Army knife, Switzerland is also renowned for its enviable quality of life in a country that ticks along like clockwork. And so went the reception of the Swiss Embassy, sharply organized and flawlessly prepared for the distinguished guests. |

| Ambassador Rudolf Baerfuss called the guests to listen to the National Anthems of Switzerland and Brazil and then gave a speech to the guests educating them about the history of Switzerland, the political strategies of the country, safe but with a central role in European affairs and more expressive in the EU every time and the good relations between Switzerland and Brazil, getting even stronger, after so much cultural, economic and political exchange, with important figures from Sitzerland having contributed to Brazil in cooperations in politics, law, arts, architecture and policing, with so much to be done still. |

I was in the Swiss mission in Brasília in the decade of the 80’s, I was First Secretary at the Embassy. My children were born here, as a matter of fact. And I had the dream of serving in Brazil as the Ambassador one day. Now, I live this dream”, said Ambassador Rudolf Baerfuss. |
