NATIONAL DAY OF switzerland 2011

The National Day of Switzerland was celebrated on August 1st 2011, when the Ambassador of Switzerland in Brazil, Mr. Wilhelm Meier, received hundreds of guests at the embassy for a celebration dinner.

Hundreds of guests were at the event.

The guests fraternized at the embassy’s social halls and open air areas. Ambassador Meier and other Swiss diplomats were greeted by Brazilian Government authorities, foreign ambassadors, diplomats, congressmen, businessmen and members of Brasilia’s society.

Ambassadors from many countries were at the celebration.

A speech was made by Swiss ambassador Wilhelm Meier highlighting the continuous growth of the friendly relations between Switzerland and Brazil. He finished his speech and ordered to light a big fire in celebration of the National Day. The guests applauded his speech and then the anthems of Switzerland and Brazil were beautifully sung by a talented singer.

All guests were invited to go to the embassy’s yard, where beautiful dinner tables and a stage were prepared for the important celebration. Already a tradition, everyone enjoyed the special dinner that included the delicious melted cheese with potatoes and sausages. During the dinner, a band played a great repertoire, including jazz and other great rhythms.
