NATIONAL DAYS >> The United States Embassy Celebrates its National Day

On the 4th of July, the Independence Day of the United States of America, Ambassador John Danilovich invited the representatives of foreign missions and citizens of Brasília to celebrate the National Day of the United States of America, at the US Embassy.
Hundreds of guests came to the gardens of the Embassy.
Over three hundred guests were present at the reception, which took place at the gardens of the US Embassy, with the US flag waving above on the post on a beautiful sunny, windy day. Among the guests there were diplomats, citizens of Brasília and authorities of the Brazilian government.
Many Ambassadors honored the event. From left to right, the Ambassador of Poland, Mr. Krzystof Jacek hinz, the Ambassador of Czech Republic, Mr. Václav Hubinger, the Ambassador of Finland, Mr. Hannu Uusi-Videnoja, the Ambassador of Denmark, Mr. Christian Konigsfeldt and the Ambassador of Austria, Mr. Werner Brandstetter.

The US Embassy served a cocktail to the guests until the spokesman of that mission invited all the guests to gather and watch the Marines present their colors.

After the presentation of the US Military Forces, the organizers of the reception startled everyone with a live capella singing presentation of two amazing artists, Yndianna singing the Brazilian National Anthem and Miss Della Henry, singing the US National Anthem. The powerful voices of both ladies touched the heart of all the guests, with the very peculiar musical styles of both countries.
The singer Yndianna sang the National Anthem of Brazil, touching the hearts of everyone with the most sweet performance, singing capella.
Following Yndianna, Miss Della Henry, the famous jazz singer from the US resident in Brasília, enchanted the guests with her powerful voice, singing the National Anthem of the United States of America.
After the wonderful presentation of the artists, the Ambassador of the United States of America, Mr. John Danilovich gave his speech to the guests, highlighting the proud spirit of the US citizens at one more celebration of their independence and reminding the ideal of the USA of preserving freedom and justice, the founding principles of their constitution. “And so on this day, on the 229 th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, let us recall those brave souls who did so much for the glorious cause of freedom and rededicate ourselves to the principles for which they risked their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor”, ended Ambassador Danilovich, raising his glass. After his speech, Ambassador Danilovich read the official speech of President George W. Bush to the guests.
The Ambassador of the United States , Mr. John Danilovich, gave his speech to the guests, remembering the ideals for which the “Founding Fathers” of the USA fought and stating that these ideals still live on in the spirit of the country.

Later, Ambassador Danilovich announced the winner of the “Estude nos Estados Unidos” (Studying in the United States ) contest, in which 312 teams of 74 Brazilian universities throughout the country presented their propaganda projects with the theme “Studying in the US ”. “I thank and congratulate the contestants. It is gratifying to see such a high level of creativity of the Brazilian students”, as the Ambassador said, but the group of students of the course of Communications of FACAMP – Faculdades de Campinas won the recognition of best project of the program and a U$ 5,000 donation in electronic equipment and software to the institution.
Ambassador Danilovich handed the certificate of best project of the “Studying in the US” contest.
The project presented by the students of the Propaganda at FACAMP – Faculdades de Campinas won the first place. Professor Helder de Melo Moraes, Director of the Propaganda Course, and the 3 rd year Propaganda Fábio Moré Wanderley, representing the institution and the other students of the team, received the award.
The members of the US Embassy enjoyed the rest of the reception in the company of the guests in a cheerful atmosphere, the refreshments and pastries served that bright winter day.
The diplomats and members of the US Embassy were proud enjoying the reception that they organized.
