The embassy of United Kingdom celebrated on June 20th, 2007, the national day of that country, which is the birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. The event occurred at the Ambassador’s official residence, at Setor de Embaixadas Sul.

Hundreds of guests were present at the event.

The Ambassador of United Kingdom, Mr. Peter Collecott and his wife, Mrs. Judith Patricia Pead, received greets of the hundreds of guests at the entrance hall of the official residence. The beautiful sounds of the Highland Bagpipe were given to the guests as a welcome gift, played by a member of the embassy who was wearing the traditional clothes of the Highlands.

Traditionally, the guests were received by the sounds of a Highland Bagpipe.

The ambience was festive at the yards of the residence, where a structure for the party was installed. The guests tasted several kinds of cheese and appetizers with Brazilian and foreign wines and typical beers of United Kingdom.

After the arrival of all guests, the military band of Brasilia played the national anthems of Brazil and United Kingdom. The British Ambassador, Mr. Peter Collecott thanked the presence of everyone and emphasized the good relations between Brazil and United Kingdom, proposing a toast in homage of the friendship between both countries. Soon afterwards, he invited the President of Supremo Tribunal Federal (the equivalent institution to the Supreme Court), Mrs. Ellen Gracie Northfleet, to propose a toast in homage of Her Majesty the Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom.

The Military Band played the anthems of United Kingdom and Brazil.

The President of Supremo Tribunal Federal of Brazil, Mrs. Ellen Northfleet, also proposed a toast in homage to the Queen of United Kingdom, Her Majesty Elizabeth II.

Then, all the guests were invited to dance with the cheerful rhythms of the Beatles, played by a band specially hired for the event.

The Band livened up the event with The Beatles songs.

Representatives of the Armed Forces of many countries were at the event.


Members of the Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil (the Brazil’s civil aviation regulator).


Ambassador of Namibia, Mr. Hopelong Ushona Ipinge, and the Ambassador of Kenya, Mr. Pius B. Namachanja.

The contagious songs of the Beatles made most of the guests dance until the first hours of the next day and warranted animation and fraternization to the event.

The guests danced until the first hours of the next day.



The event was marked by joy and fraternization.
