Mrs. Elaine Ling has been to many continents over the last 10 years, photographing rocks, marks, deserts, isolated nomadic families and ruins. Her actions can be seen as those of a photographer / cartographer, who shoes places in which times stands still. In each region of the world, the artist’s first task is to define a focus, a mechanism through which her camera will constitute significances and project senses. “In Cuba, an island marked by the grandiose glory of the old world and today’s degradation, I was able do find an urban landscape that reflects the struggle between daily lives and the slow forces of nature. Havana echoes the architectures of a multicultural and decadent past”, explains the artist.
