| After the opening cocktail, which took place on the porch of the residence, the Ambassador made a short speech to all present. During his speech the Ambassador thanked everyone for their friendship, and specifically their support during the difficult months his country suffered after the Tsunami. He specifically remembered dinners promoting solidarity and support given by the German Embassy and the Hotel Carlton. He also recognized the Consul of Sri Lanka in Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Sohaku Bastos, for his great work and tireless effort in arranging and sending the various containers of clothes and necessary goods to the people most affected by the disaster in that country. |
