The Ambassador of Germany in Brazil, Mr. Friedrich Prot von Kunow, welcomed dozens of guests on June 1st of 2007 to celebrate the 50 years of the Treaty of Rome, which marks the beginning of European Union’s formation. |

The event took place on the official halls at the embassy of Germany and counted with ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen, personalities from the society of Brasilia and Brazilian authorities, having among them, the Senator Marco Maciel and the President of the Brazilian Federal Supreme Court, Mrs. Ellen Gracie Northfleet. |

After the guests’ arrival, the ambassador gave a speech saluting everyone and highlighting the importance of the European Union on the international community. After that, the Ambassador of Portugal in Brazil, Mr. Francisco Seixas da Costa, also gave a speech about the growth of the European Union and its importance on the international scene. The guests applauded the speeches and were invited to have dinner offered by this special occasion. |
