The Embassy of Iran celebrated the New Year on March 22nd 2011. The Ambassador of Iran in Brazil, Mr. Mohsen Shaterzadeh Yazdi, received dozens of guest at the official residence in Setor de Embaixadas Sul for the Nowruz party.

Dozens of guests were at the celebration.

The Nowruz’s celebration marks the beginning of the Persian calendar, which is celebrated with enthusiasm by the Iranian people. At the event, guests could see the beauty of the traditional tables prepared for the event.

The guests could learn about this beautiful Iranian celebration.

The traditional table of Nowruz and the seven main elements were admired by the guests. The seven items in the Nowruz’s table are: Seer (garlic); Serkeh( vinegar); Samanu ( Persian sweet); Senjed (the fruit and leaf of the Senjed); Esfand ; Seke( coins); Sumac (medicinal effects).

After the arrival of the guests, Ambassador Mohsen Shaterzadeh Yazdi delivered a speech highlighting the importance of the Nowruz and explaining its meaning for the Iranian people.

Among the guests there were diplomats, Brazilian authorities, members of Brasilia’s society and members of the Community of Iran in Brasilia. After the speech they all were invited to taste traditional dishes of the Nowruz Celebration.
