The group “Grupo Amigas do Brasil”, formed by ladies of the Diplomatic Corps and Brazilian ladies, held a dinner reception on September 2nd, 2005, at the residence of the Ambassador of Guatemala, Mr. Manuel Estuardo Roldán Barillas.

Warmly greeted by the Ambassador, Mr. Manuel Estuardo Roldán Barillas and the Ambassadress of Guatemala, Mrs. Carina Faillace Roldán, the ladies who are member of “Grupo Amigas do Brasil” participated of the event each one taking a typical dish from their countries.

Dinner started with a brief speech of the actual Director of “Grupo Amigas do Brasil”, Mrs. Lucia De Monge, wife of the Minister Counsellor of the Embassy of Costa Rica, Mr. Victor Manuel Monge Chacón. Mrs. De Monge highlighted the importance of the continuous work of the group, which has helped many institutions that assist people in need since 2003, when the group initiated their actions. They are children care institutions and the “Hospital de Queimados em Brasília” (Hospital of Burned in Brasília). Mrs. De Monge has taken over the group after Mrs. Aída Vidaurre, founder of the group, returned to Bolívia, her home country, in the beginning of 2005.

Later, each lady member of the group presented the typical dish they brought to dinner in brief words. There were delicious specialties from Guatemala, Chile, Itália, Costa Rica, Paraguai and Brazil.
Each lady, accompanied by their spouses, presented the dish, typical in their countries.
The fortunate guests could then try a little of them and verify the gastronomic qualities of the participant countries in the event. It was hard to point the most delicious dish and a fair draw approved by everyone was the final result.

During the event, the birthday of Mr. Senén Conejeros, Counsellor of the Embassy of Chile and President of the Association of Diplomats in Brasília – ASDIBRA. The wife of Mr. Conejeros, Mrs. Karen Lattapiat, is member of “Grupo Amigas do Brasil” since its foundation and was responsible for the surprise birthday cake, besides, of course, the delicious “empanadas chilenas” (Chilean treats, fried and stuffed with different ingredients), tried by the guests that evening.

The traditional “Empanadas Chilenas” were much appreciated by the guests.
At the end, everyone danced to the various rhythms chosen by the host Ambassador, Mr. Manuel Estuardo Roldán Barillas, who is also a great expert on Brazilian music, as he has lived in Brazil for many years, even before he was assigned the Ambassador.

The group “Grupo Amigas do Brasil” invites the ladies in Brasília to become new members and continue the activities, to move actions towards giving aid and supporting institutions that care for people in need within Brazil.
THE GUIDE participated on the gastronomic event and congratulates “Grupo Amigas do Brasil” for the organization of the event and the noble gesture of helping the Brazilian institutions that care for people in need.
