The group "Grupo de Embaixatrizes" and the Vice First Lady
On April 5th, 2005, at the residence of the Ambassador of Venezuela, Julio José Garcia Montoya, his wife, Ambassadress Mrs. Ana Josefina Cumare de García, hosted the "Grupo de Embaixatrizes" (Group of Ambassadresses) for an ordinary meeting to discuss the agenda for 2005.
The President of the group, Mrs. Rosa Maria de Lozano, and Mrs. Ana de Garcia, Secretary of the group and Ambassadress of Venezuela, who gently offered her residence for the meeting.
The "Grupo de Embaixatrizes" is, just as the name says, a group of Ambassadresses who get together to develop projects and activities in order to gather funds, through donations and other initiatives.

"We will be visiting institutions to see the economic needs they have and to plan how we can assist them", said Mrs. Rosa to THE GUIDE. "The important thing, immediately, is to invite as many Ambassadresses as we can to the group, willing to spend a little of their very occupied routines working for those children in need. We coming, in person, to meet these ladies and present them our goals and our activities and make the group grow, becoming more expressive and successful every time".
The group discuss the issues and the agenda for 2005.
The first subject discussed at the meeting was the confirmation of the new Directors of the group: President Rosa Maria de Lozano, from the Embassy of Honduras, Vice President Nadia Abd-El-Fath, from Egypt, Secretary Carina de Roldan, Ambassadress of Guatemala, Second Secretary Ana de Garcia, from Venezuela, Mary de Gonzalez, the Treasurer, from the Embassy of Paraguai , Second Treasurer Beatrice Baerfuss, from Switzerland and Mrs. Ingrid Kohlhofer, Ambassadress of Chile, the Director of the Social Comittee.
The ladies were extremely participative during the meeting.
Later, the Ambassadresses also discussed the viability of making the group an association, totally in accordance with the Brazilian legislations. The statutes are prepared and being revised by the registry office, acomppanied by the lawyer of the group, and the process shouldn't take long, now. And the activities planned for 2005 and determined the comittees for each of these activities, as well as the people who would work in them. Among these events, the group will organize the Beneficent Bingo, the Beneficent Dinner and the Parade of National Dresses and Typical Food, three to be major events and gather lots of funds for the causes of the group "Grupo de Embaixatrizes".

Later in the morning, the group received the visit of the wife of the Vice-President of the Republic, Mrs. Mariza Campos Gomes da Silva, correspondant of ABRACE - Associação Brasileira de Assistência às Famílias de Crianças Portadoras de Hemopatias (Association of Assistance to the Families of Children Carrying Blood Diseases). The group donated over R$ 12,000,00 to ABRACE, that came from the initiatives during the former administration, in which the Ambassadress of Denmark, Mrs. Pia Konigsfeldt, was the President.

After handing the donations to the Vice First Lady, the group went to the balcony of the lovely Venezuelan Embassy, where they could appreciate the jewelry and crystals from Cristalina (small city near Brasília, in the State of Goiás, famous for the many crystal mines and the the esquisite handicraft work in the region). "Lapidação Itamaraty", specialized in valuable stones, displayed their work, represented by the owner Osail, and offered aid to the group. Then, enjoyed a wonderful breakfast offered by Mrs. Ana Josefina Cumare de García, with fruit and the traditional pastry, from Venezuela, the "empanadas".
After the duties were fulfilled, the ladies enjoyed breakfast, Venezuelan style, and enjoyed the artistic work of "Lapidação Itamaraty", on stones.
