The winning project this year of 2005 was in the area of education and it is called the "Projeto de Intercâmbio Cultural BH - Jabó" (Cultural Exchange Project BH - Jabó). The sisters Ilma Pereira Nunes Moreira, Ana Maria Pereira Siqueira and Patrícia Auxiliadora Pereira Marques, Portuguese language teachers, with creativity and effort, conscious of the value of motivation as instrument of transformation and improvement of learning, developed a project involving social works, going beyond the limits of the classrooms and reaching the students' families and their community. It is a simple project in its conception, but nonetheless valuable, and possible to be applied in different societies. The exchange of correspondence, considering the differences, promoting self knowledge and the opening of horizons, favoring those who are involved with a greater social integration, which is important to the development of citizenship and reflects inside the classrooms. The involvement of the students and the community to elaborate the closing party and meeting of the participants of the program renewed the energy at the school. The results are measured by the greater retaining of the subjects in school, better socialization of the students, improvement of the relationships at home and straightening of the relationship students-teachers. It is easier to express emotions and to develop creativity, resulting in a smaller number of drop-outs and a much greater participation of the school in the formation of the citizen.
