The Embassy of Sweden held on December 13th, its traditional celebration on Saint Lucia's Day.

The celebration comes from the tradition of throwing a party, sometime considered the longest evening of the year, with Christmas and traditional songs, with candle decoration and at the end, a special breakfast, overcoming in a festive way the evening that in the past was considered to be the longest, most dark and most dangerous of the year.

This year's party kept the tradition from the previous years, being an event with a lot of energy and confraternization. The celebration had the presence of many people, among them, ambassadors, diplomats, businessmen and members of the Swedish community in Brasilia. There were also missionary people at the place that were invited by the embassy, promoting the sale of Christmas goods, such as books, CDs, cards, and garments. The fund is turned to the benefit of a social action that helps a community daycare center and the Varjão neighborhood, one of the neediest places in Brasilia.

After the guests' arrival, the Ambassador of Sweden, Mrs. Margareta Winberg made a short speech thanking everyone for their presence, highlighting the importance that Saint Lucia has for the Swedish people.

At the end of her speech, the Ambassador announced the beginning of the procession of Saint Lucia. This was when the ambiance got illuminated just by the candles placed on the tables. From the inside part of the embassy, you could listen to a beautiful presentation from the Swedish choir, Gott och blandat, which the members came out for the procession from the interior of the embassy using white clothes and candle-made crowns. The choir walked to the stage set up for the event and sang varied Christmas songs, including a song in Portuguese, which moved everyone present.

At the end of the presentation and under warm applauses, the procession returned to the inside part of the embassy, that's when the Ambassador Margareta Winberg invited everyone for a confraternization dinner.
The guests participated of a nice confraternization dinner.
