| The Embassy of Finland and the "Secretaria de Cultura" (Secretary of Culture) of Distrito Federal exhibits the work of the most important Finnish Architect of the twentieth century, Alvar Aalto. This amazing architect has produce a remarkable collection of decorative objects, interior design and building designs very much using the live, vibrating textures of wood and light. |

| Hundreds of guests came to the vernisage, among authorities and scholars of architecture, to see the work of this icon of the field. |

| The exhibition, organized by the "Alvar Aalto Museum", the Embassy of Finland, the Departament of Architecture of the University of Brasília and the Secretary of Culture of Distrito Federal, Shows pictures and illustrations of Alvar Aalto as well as some forniture of the artchitect. At the opening of the exhibition, dozens of visitors were at the mezzanine of the National Theater Cláudio Santoro, including members of the Diplomatic Community and many students of the University of Brasília. |

| Before offically opening the exhibition, Professor Dr. Cláudia Estrela, Vice-Director the Department of Architecture of UnB (University of Brasília) lectured the guests about the work of Alvar Aalto. She eloquently explained the Aalto went beyond the odrinary classicism of Filand in the twentieth century using innovative techniques and applying wood in contrast with the coldness of the time, giving a noble and comfortable aspect to the ambiences. His work was clearly centered on the people and that characteristic reflected on every project, furniture, objects and all his inventive and particular work that can easily be called art. |

| The Secretary of Culture of Distrito Federal, Mr. Pedro Bório, who happens to be a diplomat and has already seen Finland and part of the work of Aalto exalted the splendid projects of the architect, which he wisely pointed that don’t lose their actuality and still are among the most desired in the world. Mr. Pedro Bório also congratulated the Embassy of Finland and its Ambassador, Mr. Hannu Uusi-Videnoja for the wonderful contributions to culture in Distrito Federal. |

| The Embassy of Finland was represented by Mr. Pekka Kaihilahti named the Chargé d’Affaires as Ambassador Hannu Uusi-Videnoja is away on a trip. After the kind words of Professor Estrela and Secretary Bório, Mr. Kaihilahti who explained the work of Alvar Aalto from the point of view of an European citizen mentioning how important natural light and the use of wood in housing, also for the climatic nuances of the region, once light brings heat and wood is an excellent thermal isolator. Those elements are fundamental on the work of Alvar Aalto in furniture, roofs, walls and decoration. And thanking all the guests, Mr. Pekka Kaihilahti declared the exhibition officially opened. |
