Get To Know Brazil other events >> Mr. Vinod Thomas' book launched at Livraria Cultura On December 1st, at 6:00p.m., Mr. Vinod Thomas, ex-Director of the World Bank Office in Brazil (Bird) and, nowadays, Director-General of the World Bank's Operations Evaluation Department in Washington, launched at Livraria Cultura, in Casa Park Shopping, the book "O Brasil visto por dentro: desenvolvimento em uma terra de contrastes". Mr. Vinod Thomas. The book makes an analysis on the Brazilian progress in the latest years in areas related to economy, reduction of poverty, inequality and sustainability of the natural sources. The book was simultaneously launched in Brazil and in the United States. The audience, which included many ambassadors, appreciated the book launching. Mr. Vinod Thomas and Ambassador of Paquistan, Mr. Khalid Khattak. On the occasion, there was a debate at the auditory of the bookstore, which was integrated by the author, the Brazilian Senator Cristovam Buarque and the economist and professor Nilson Holanda, about the book and questions referred to the development of Brazil. Many journalists, Diplomats, authorities of Brazilian Government and businessmen were present at the event. Mr. Abel E. Fernandez, Director of Admissions and Public Relations of American School of Brasília, participated of the debate during the book launching. The debate had the presence of the Brazilian Senator Cristóvam Buarque, the professor and economist Mr. Nilson Holanda, besides the author. Mr. Vinod Thomas and his wife, Mrs. Leila Thomas. After the debate, it was offered to the presents a cocktail at the main hall of Livraria Cultura, where Mr. Vinod Thomas participated of an autograph session.
